Welcome!
Welcome to the "Feminism In Harry Potter" website. My goal for this website is to help further prove my argument of the feminism in the series, and to prove that it is important to know the answer to this argument.
Currently this Spring semester, I am enrolled in an English class at Florida State University titled Harry Potter and Pop Culture. In class, we learned mainly about popular culture, and we have been using the Harry Potter series throughout the class to connect the things we learned to something that has had a tremendous impact on society. You can find Harry Potter in your everyday life, because it is such a popular phenomenon around the world. One of our assignments in class was to pick a theme of the series and write a research paper. I picked the topic of feminism, because I wanted to prove that it existed in the series, and that the characters in it are positive role models for women. In my paper, I also bring up the topic of gender stereotypes, and prove that there are none.
I wrote and proved the point that the series is feminist, using the characters of Hermione Granger and Minerva McGonagall to prove my argument.
Now, for the rest of the semester, what we are supposed to do is use the research paper we have written and translate it into 3 different types of medium we can freely choose (social, digital, and print). I chose this website as my digital media. I chose to create a tumblr as my social media, and you can view it by clicking here. Lastly, for my physical media I chose to make a flyer and post it around campus, and you can view that here. Feel free to leave me any feedback you have on anything by clicking here!
I will use this website to come up with a more accessible way for people to access my argument, and make it easier to read than a research paper. However, if you want to read my research paper, you can download it by clicking here!
I hope you will read everything this site has and let me know your opinion! :)
